Our meeting with DR Eli Argaman.

Our project:

This year's project

The subject of this year's project is Nature's Fury.
in the Nature’s Fury Project, our team has to:
•Identify a community that could experience a natural disaster
•Identify a problem that happens when a natural disaster occurs
•Create an innovative solution that
•helps people prepare, stay safe, or rebuild
•Share your problem and solution with others
After we chose a community, identified a problem, and thought of a solution, we had to share it with others and tell the community we chose how exactly our solution can help them with their problem.

Our project

The natural disaster that we chose is a sandstorm.

We decided to focus on sandstorms in the "Negev" desert in Israel, Who cause severe damages to the farming and agricultural products in the area the sandstorm has 3 stages: "creep"', "saltation", "suspension".

We want our solution to mainly prevent the two first stages, and by that to reduce the damages to the field.

The solution we came up with is a series of mechanical systems, which will be determined at distances from one another along the selected area.

Part of the system will be underground, and the second part (which will be made out of a net material) will be above ground and will adjust by the height required for protection from sandstorms.

The system will filter the coarse material of the sand particles and slow the movement, so the  sandstorm damage will decrease greatly.
